Documents Search

In the Documents Search, you can:

  • order copies of Instruments, Plans, and Evidence
  • generate a report from your search of a variety of registers and indices
  • obtain Standard Charge Terms from a variety of financial institutions

Search for Instruments, Plans, and Evidence

  1. On the OnLand Homepage, from the Find your Land Registry Office options, begin typing the name of the city, town, or LRO name, or number you’d like to search in. The results will display as you type.
  2.  From the results in the list, select your LRO.
    1. Tip: You can also scroll through the LROs from the drop-down list. 
  3. From the Find your land registry service options, select Documents.
    1. The Documents page displays.
  4. From the options, select Instruments, Plans and Evidence.
    1. The Instruments, Plans, and Evidence screen displays.
  5. In the Registration Number field, enter the registration number of the document you’re looking for.
    1. Tip: If you don’t know the prefix for your Registration Number, you can find it in the Prefix List for your LRO in this list.
  6. Select Search.
    1. The results display.
  7. To select specific pages of the document, select the Select Pages option, and select All to order all pages, or enter a Page Range. 
  8. Select Add to Cart.
    1. A window appears, detailing the number of items in the cart and the total for your order.
  9. To add more items, select Continue Shopping. To pay for your order, select Checkout. 
    1. The Your Shopping Cart page displays.
  10. Verify your order details and select Checkout.
    1. Note: If there is no charge for your item, select Go to Download.
    2. The login page displays, where you can log into your account, create a new one, or select Continue as Guest User to make your purchase without an account.
  11. Make your selection and proceed to the Checkout.

Search the Ontario Highways Register

  1. On the OnLand Homepage, from the Find your Land Registry Office options, begin typing the name of the city, town, or LRO name, or number you’d like to search in. The results will display as you type.
  2.  From the results in the list, select your LRO.
    1.  Tip: You can also scroll through the LROs from the drop-down list. 
  3. From the Find your land registry service options, select Documents.
    1. The Documents page displays.
  4. From the Register & Index Reports options, select Highways Register
    1. The Highways Register screen displays. 
  5. From the Search by options, select Options or Registration Number.
  6. Enter either the registration number or any combination of Highway Register Search Options for your search. 

    1. Tip: If you don’t know the prefix for your Registration Number, you can find it in the Prefix List for your LRO in this list
  7. In the Requested by field, enter your name, or the name of the person on whose behalf you are searching.
  8. From the Report Options, select your sort and language preferences. 
  9. Select Request Report.
    1. The Search Results Report displays.
    2. Note: The price will display as $0.00
  10. Select Add to Cart.
    1. A window appears, detailing the number of items in the cart and the total for your order.
  11. To add more items, select Continue Shopping. To proceed with your order, select Checkout. 
    1. The Your Shopping Cart page displays.
  12. Verify your order details and select Go to Download
  13. Select Email Receipt or Download Receipt, depending on your preference.
    1. Note: It is a good idea to download your receipt as well as emailing it, as a precaution.
  14. To download your file, select the Download link, and save or print it as you normally would.
    1. Note: If you have multiple products, you can have them all emailed to you by selecting Email All Products.

Search the Trans-Canada Pipe Line Register

  1. On the OnLand Homepage, from the Find your Land Registry Office options, begin typing the name of the city, town, or LRO name, or number you’d like to search in. The results will display as you type.
  2.  From the results in the list, select your LRO.
    1. Tip: You can also scroll through the LROs from the drop-down list. 
  3. From the Find your land registry service options, select Documents.
    1. The Documents page displays.
  4. From the Register & Index Reports options, select Trans-Canada Pipe Line Register. 
    1. The Trans-Canada Pipe Line Register screen displays. 
  5. From the Search by options, select Date or Municipality.
  6. Enter either the range of dates for your search, or select a Municipality from the Municipality drop-down list.  
  7. In the Requested by field, enter your name or the name of the person on whose behalf you are searching. 
  8. From the Report Options, select your sort and language preferences.
  9. Select Request Report.
    1. The Search Result Report displays.
    2. Note: The price will display as $0.00.
  10. Select Add to Cart
  11. To add more items, select Continue Shopping. To proceed with your order, select Checkout. 
    1. The Your Shopping Cart page displays.
  12. Verify your order details and select Go to Download.
  13. Select Email Receipt or Download Receipt, depending on your preference.
    1. Note: It is a good idea to download your receipt as well as emailing it, as a precaution.
  14. To download your file, select the Download link, and save or print it as you normally would.

Search the Subdivision and Reference Plan Index

  1. On the OnLand Homepage, from the Find your Land Registry Office options, begin typing the name of the city, town, or LRO name, or number you’d like to search in. The results will display as you type.
  2.  From the results in the list, select your LRO.
    1. Tip: You can also scroll through the LROs from the drop-down list. 
  3. From the Find your land registry service options, select Documents.
    1. The Documents page displays.
  4. From the options, select Subdivision & Reference Plan Index
    1. The Subdivision & Reference Plan screen displays. 
  5. From the Select Plan Type options, select Subdivision Plan or Reference Plan.
  6. Enter the Date Range, and the block number, if needed. 
  7. In the Requested by field, enter your name, or the name of the person on whose behalf you are searching.
  8. From the Language menu, select your language preference for the report. 
  9. Select Request Report.
    1. The details of the Search Report display.
    2. Note: The price will display as $0.00
  10. Select Add to Cart.
    1. A window opens, detailing the number of items in the cart and the total for your order.
  11. To add more items, select Continue Shopping. To pay for your order, select Checkout. 
    1. The Your Shopping Cart screen displays.
  12. Verify your order details and select Go to Download.

Search the Power of Attorney Index

  1. On the OnLand Homepage, from the Find your Land Registry Office options, begin typing the name of the city, town, or LRO name, or number you’d like to search in. The results will display as you type.
  2.  From the results in the list, select your LRO.
    1. Tip: You can also scroll through the LROs from the drop-down list. 
  3. From the Find your land registry service options, select Documents.
    1. The Documents page displays.
  4. From the options, select Power of Attorney.
    1. The Power of Attorney screen displays. 
  5. From the Search by options, select Name or Document.
  6. Enter either the name or registration number for your search.
    1. Tip: If you don’t know the prefix for your Registration Number, you can find it in the Prefix List for your LRO in this list
  7. In the Requested by field, enter your name, or the name of the person on whose behalf you are searching.
  8. From the Language drop-down list, select your language preference for the report. 
  9. Select Request Report.
    1. The search results display.
  10. Select the Add to Cart button next to the report you wish to purchase.
    1. A window opens, detailing the number of items in the cart and the total for your order.
  11. To add more items, select Continue Shopping. To pay for your order, select Checkout. 
    1. The Your Shopping Cart screen displays.
  12. Verify your order details and select Checkout.
  13. The login page displays, where you can log into your account, create a new one, or select Continue as Guest User to make your purchase without an account.
  14. Make your selection and proceed to the Checkout.

Search for Standard Charge Terms

  1. On the OnLand Homepage, from the Find your Land Registry Office options, begin typing the name of the city, town, or LRO name, or number you’d like to search in. The results will display as you type.
  2.  From the results in the list, select your LRO.
    1. Tip: You can also scroll through the LROs from the drop-down list. 
  3. From the Find your land registry service options, select Documents.
    1. The Documents page displays.
  4. From the options, select Standard Charge Terms.
    1. The Standard Charge Terms screen displays. 
  5. If you know the lender name or file number, select the appropriate option in the Filter drop-down list, and enter the appropriate name or number in the accompanying field.
    1. Note: If you are entering the File Number, the prefix XX must be added.  
    2. Note: You can also limit the results by selecting a year from the Year drop-down list. 
    3. The results will respond as you select filters.
  6. Select Add to Cart next to your selection(s).
    1. A window appears, detailing the number of items in the cart and the total for your order. The price will display as $0.00. 
  7. To add more items, select Continue Shopping. To proceed with your order, select Checkout. 
    1. The Your Shopping Cart page displays.
  8. Select Go to Download.
  9. Select Email Receipt or Download Receipt, depending on your preference.
